The Tiger and the Broken Bridge
The forest was silent.
Suddenly, a loud roar shook the trees.
“HELP!”
It was a young deer trapped on the other side of a broken bridge. A huge storm had destroyed the bridge during the night, and the river below was moving dangerously fast.
Rex, a young tiger, heard the cry.
He ran toward the river.
“Stay there!” he shouted.
The deer looked down. “I can’t jump that far!”
Rex looked around quickly. There was no other way across.
Then he noticed a fallen tree lying beside the river.
He grabbed a thick branch with his teeth and pulled.
CRACK!
The branch broke.
Rex tried again.
This time, he pulled the entire tree toward the river.
“Come on!” he growled.
He pushed the tree across the gap.
The deer carefully stepped onto it.
One step.
Two steps.
Suddenly, the tree moved!
“RUN!” shouted Rex.
The deer jumped forward just as the tree slipped into the river.
But Rex wasn’t fast enough.
The ground beneath him collapsed.
SPLASH!
He fell into the freezing water.
“REX!”
The deer immediately ran to the other side and shouted for help.
Within minutes, several animals arrived.
Together, they pulled Rex out of the river.
Rex was exhausted, but he smiled.
The deer looked at him and said, “You saved me.”
Rex shook the water from his fur.
“Next time,” he said, “let’s find a bridge that actually works!”
The animals laughed.
But nobody noticed something floating toward them in the river...
A small wooden box.
And it had a strange symbol carved on top.
