The Monkey Who Wanted to Be a King

The Monkey Who Wanted to Be a King

Deep inside a green forest, there lived a clever monkey named Milo. Milo had one big dream: he wanted to become the king of the forest.

Every morning, he stood on a rock and shouted, “Good morning, my future subjects!”

The rabbits laughed. The parrots copied him. Even the old tortoise shook his head.

One day, Milo announced, “I will prove that I am the smartest animal here!”

He climbed a tall tree and found a basket of bananas hanging from a branch. “Look!” he shouted. “A king always gets the best food!”

But when Milo tried to pull the basket, it got stuck. He pulled harder.

Suddenly—WHOOSH!

The basket fell, and bananas flew everywhere.

One banana landed on the tortoise’s head.

Another hit a rabbit.

And one landed directly in Milo’s mouth.

The whole forest burst into laughter.

Milo felt embarrassed, but then he started laughing too.

“Okay, okay,” he said. “Maybe I’m not ready to be king.”

The old tortoise smiled. “Being a king isn’t about getting the best bananas. It’s about helping others.”

Milo thought for a moment.

The next morning, instead of standing on the rock and giving orders, he helped the rabbits collect food and carried water for the smaller animals.

Nobody called him “King Milo.”

But from that day on, everyone called him their favorite monkey.

And Milo realized that sometimes, being loved is better than being powerful.
